Due to their low permeability, the iron powder cores are indicated to build inductors without the need of an air gap among the magnetic path. For this reason, the magnetic dispersion is close to zero. Their saturation level is high, which enables them to operate with high levels of current. This type of cores are applied to circuits operating within grid frequency, and also in high frequency switch-mode power supplies.
